WHITEFACE CLUB & RESORT GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS – J Peter Martin celebrates his 35th year as PGA professional at Whiteface Club and Resort at a dinner in his honor attended by more than 200 people during the Whiteface Open Golf Championships over the weekend. Martin received a citation from the town and village for his years of service and devotion to the game. It was also announced that Friday was J Peter Martin Day in Lake Placid. Whiteface Club and Resort Management presented hi with a plaque dedicating the first hole to the pro..
WET N WILD WEDNESDAYS – Wednesday’s this summer mark an opportunity for the Olympic Jumping Complex to open their doors and provide visitors with an opportunity to see first hand what happens every day at a nationally recognized training facility like the one at the ski jumps. The event’s are dubbed Wet and Wild Wednesdays and feature freestyle and aerial athletes launching up to 60-feet into the air and splashing down in the 750,000-gallon pool. The event features Athletes of all levels – from the beginner to World and Olympic champions who are currently training at the site designed specifically for summer aerial training. The Olympic Jumping complex provides one of only two locations in theUnited Statesfor this type of training.
Tickets for the event are available at the venu, at the Olympic Center or The ORDA Store onMain Streethere inLake Placidsells tickets to the event. Admission is included when purchasing an Olympic Sites Passport which gives visitors access to all of the Olympic venues. The Presentations at the Olympic Jumping Complex continue most Wednesdays through August 22nd.

A new study finds sports participation is much better than physical education or an active commute in controlling weight.
