NCCC Tuition stays Flat

FranklinCountyapproves North CountryCommunity College’s Budget and tuition remains at $3,900..  The legislators vote to approve N Triple C’s $13,630,000 budget for the upcoming school year and send the budget to EssexCounty’s Board of Supervisors who must also approve the college’s spending plan…  EssexCounty’s Board is holding a public hearing on July 30th to discuss their tentative approval of the budget which includes a 3.3% increase over this year. 

North CountryCommunity Collegewelcomed it’s new President Dr Steven Tyrell recently and this budget will provide an opportunity for the new administration to identify priorities and develop plans for upgrading the facilities and re-focusing curriculum.

The College’s Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Steve Tyrell to serve as the college’s sixth president. His term began on June 15th.

The Board’s Chairman, Gerald Blair, says “The Board is very pleased with the process of the search and its final outcome.  Dr. Tyrell is an excellent choice for NCCC, the administration and faculty, and its students. And both Essex andFranklinCountylegislators seem to agree.

Tyrell says he’s thrilled to return home to the region and leadNorth CountryCommunity Collegeinto its next phase. He says he’s looking forward to working with community leaders in advancing workforce partnerships that extend the impact ofNorthCountyin Essex andFranklinCounty.  

 

Dr. Steve Tyrell’s most recent service includes his term as Vice President for Student Affairs at Alfred State College, where’s he served since 2004. Prior to Alfred State College, he served as Associate Dean for Student Discipline at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Associate Dean for Student Affairs at Michigan Tech and in various positions in residence life, student activities and student union operations at SUNY New Paltz.

 

He and his wife, Sharon, are native New Yorkers from upstateNew York.  They have two children, Zachary and Emma.
