RAY BROOK FIRE - SaranacLake’s Fire Department responds to a small ground fire atCrescentBay.

It was at about 3pm yesterday afternoon when an abandoned camp fire blew onto the surrounding dry vegetation and kicked of a sample of what was to come for Lake Placid andSaranacLake’s Fire Departments in Ray Brook…SaranacLakesent one truck and 7 members to the campfire incident, they doused the flames and were back in service just in time to respond to the call of a fire on the railroad tracks in Ray Brook…  SaranacLake’s department provided mutual aid toLake Placid’s crew with 27 members and 5 trucks, all converging on the railroad tracks just behind the Saranac Lake Golf Course on Route 86 in Ray Brook…   Lake Placid’s Fire Department tells WNBZ the fire was originally reported at about 2:25pm yesterday…Keene,Wilmington,SaranacLake, Upper Jay, Paul Smiths, Bloomingdale, Ausable Forks all sent manpower and wildland equipment.  The first fire was about 50 feet wide by 200 feet long, and the second fire was about 3 to 4 acres of forest fire..  Lake Placidsent two trucks, UTV’s and the 8 wheeler.. The fire was taken under control in about 3 to 4 hours but departments remained to manage the hotspots, they cut fire breaks around the main burn and raked the area to prevent and fire from spreading…  SaranacLakereturned to the firehouse at 10:27pm.

REBECCA PISALL - SaranacLake(July 13th) – Saranac Lake Police report the arrest of  19 year old Rebecca J. Pisall ofSaranacLake. She is charged with Petit Larceny for stealing two items from a local convenience store. She was processed and released with an appearance ticket to appear in village court at a later date..

 USA-MEXICO TUNNEL – The US Drug Enforcement Administration says agents have shut down a fully operational tunnel fromMexico toArizona that was used by drug smugglers. The DEA had been monitoring activity at what turned out to be the tunnel entrance inArizona since January. The way into the tunnel was found inside a building onArchibald Street inSan Luis,Arizona. Agents say a pickup truck that was pulled over carrying 39 pounds of meth earlier this month was linked to the building. That’s when they discovered the 240 yard long — six foot high tunnel, which was buried 55 feet under ground. Three suspects are now under arrest.
