– The Long Term Care Community Coalition (LTCCC) releases a list of citations against nursing homes in the state. The largest fines since January have been levied against Wingate at Beacon inDutchessCounty- fined $24,000 and CVPH in February received a fine for their home of $22,000.. Adirondack Health’s Facilities are not on the list which is good news for the community as the Board at AMC considers options for consolidation on theLake PlacidCampus.. Usually, these actions are the result of nursing homes failing to meet minimum standards. Most of the fines are not due to life threatening situations..
The Coalition is also reporting on selected actions taken by the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU), which prosecutes cases of resident abuse in nursing homes. These include staff failing to provide medication, in one case, a staff member posted a picture of a mentally ill resident on her Twitter account and in another, a staff member fracturing the hand of a resident.
