Muriel H. Beseth, 89, most recently of Mercy Living Center, Tupper Lake, formerly of 60 Church Street, Saranac Lake, died, Thursday, August 2 at Mercy Living Center, Tupper Lake. Born on August 18, 1922 in Saranac Lake, New York, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Ella (Morgan) Beseth. Muriel was the Valedictorian of her graduating class at Saranac Lake high school and she worked here at WNBZ with Jim and Keela Rogers for 47 years, until her retirement. Muriel had been a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program for many years.
She is survived by two nephews: Lewis (Josephine) DeFuria of Saranac Lake and Barry DeFuria of Lake Clear; great nieces and nephews: Tracy Mauler of Saranac Lake, Michael (Holley) DeFuria of Mechanicville, Rebecca Meyers of Kingston, NY and Joseph L. (Jessica) DeFuria II of Saranac Lake; eight great-great nieces and nephews: Jonathan and Ashley Mauler, Courtney Youngs, Travis DeFuria, Whitney and Brandon Pagan and Faith and Michael DeFuria; and one great-great-great niece, Madison Youngs. She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Phyllis DeFuria.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Monday, August 6, 2012 from 2PM – 4PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at 4:00 Pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Saranac Lake, NY.
