PSC and SUNY ESF TO BE RECOGNIZED for Saving VIC

College Presidents Recognized for Their Community Commitment

John Mills, President of Paul Smith’s College, and Neil Murphy, President of the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, are being honored for their community commitment for supporting the continued operation of the Interpretive Centers at Paul Smiths and Newcomb. Both Colleges stepped forward over a year ago and took over the management of these facilities, keeping them open and available to the public and the communities in which they are located. Both Centers are important economic engines for the tourism based economy of the region.

The awards will be made by NYS Senator Betty Little, who is chairing the New Beginnings Award Gala which will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the Paul Smith’s College VIC, State Route 30, Paul Smiths, NY. The Gala is sponsored by the Adirondack Park Institute which for 23 years has been providing support for programs at the two centers.

The Gala will present a memorable evening to meet and mingle with luminaries from Adirondack business, government, philanthropy, and environmental advocacy who will officially inaugurate ‘New Beginnings’ for the interpretive centers.
