Union and Confederate troops made the 11thannual Civil War reenactment at Robert Moses State Park, Massena on July 28-29 a huge success.  Approximately 100 reenactors came from New York, Vermont, Ohio, Ontario and Quebec, Canada.  The Civil War weekend was sponsored by SeaComm Federal Credit Union.  The reenactment weekend is part of the St. Lawrence County Historical Association’s Commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, which began in 1861.  More than 540 people attended the reenactment over a two day period.  Union troops, including drummers, are pictured.  In addition to SeaComm Federal Credit Union, other sponsors include Gene and Connie Barto, Niles Asset Management, Stewart’s Shops, and Gouverneur VFW Post 6338.  Next year’s Civil War reenactment Weekend will be held the last weekend of July 2013. 

 The St. Lawrence County Historical Association at the Silas Wright House is open Tuesday through Saturday noon to 4 p.m., Friday noon to 8 p.m.  Admission to the museum is free; admission to the archives is free for members and children, $2.50 for college students, and $5 for the general public.  The St. Lawrence County Historical Association is located at 3 E. Main St., Canton.  Parking is available in the back of the SLCHA, next to the museum’s main entrance.
