– U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand will be in Saranac Lake Friday morning to visit with and tour the new Myriad RBM facility in the old Village offices on Main Street in Saranac Lake. Senator Gillibrand will visit Myriad at 9:30am and meet with local economic development leaders to discuss the region’s growth in the biotech sector. From Saranac Lake, she travels to SUNY Plattsburgh where she’ll be joined by Representative Bill Owens. The two will hold a roundtable discussion at 11am in the Angel College Center on cross-border commerce in the North Country. Recognizing the enormous potential for economic development with our neighbors in Canada, the two will hear directly from stakeholders regarding barriers and opportunities in tourism and trade, border infrastructure issues, and exports.

After meeting with Clarkson University students at 1:30 in Potsdam, Senator Gillibrand, will be joined by Clarkson President Tony Collins. Gillibrand plans to announce new federal legislation to spur the growth of new science and technology jobs in the North Country. The Bill would help scientists and researchers secure valuable resources and training to translate new diescoveries into marketable products, new high-tech companies and jobs.
