Library Information Services Appoints New Dean

PLATTSBURGH (Aug. 21, 2012) —SUNY Plattsburgh has appointed Holly Heller-Ross dean of Library and Information Services.

Heller-Ross has served in the role on an interim basis since January, when former dean Cerise Oberman stepped down. LIS is one of four academic divisions at the college. It oversees Feinberg Library, instructional technology, and computing and media services.

Heller-Ross served as associate dean of LIS from 2007 to 2012. She holds a Master of Library Science from SUNY Albany and earned her undergraduate degree in environmental science from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1984.

“Holly Heller-Ross has demonstrated the vision, experience, and leadership skills necessary to continue to move LIS in a positive direction,” said Dr. James Liszka, provost and vice president for academic affairs. “I look forward to working with her as dean of LIS.”

Heller-Ross assumes her new role effective Sept. 1.
