SaranacLake’s Mayor Clyde Rabideau reading the Resolution at Monday’s Village Board Meeting…  The Village of Saranac Lake is a central stop on the corridor and public interest groups on both sides have been asking the board for their support..  Rabideau says the updating process could take a while. And in order for anything to happen to the railway, this has to be updated…

Village Trustee Tom Catillaz says this has to get done no matter what we do and we might as well get on the horse and get this started. The resolution is essentially a precursor to the village’s efforts to bring stakeholders from all sides of the issue on the Rail corridor together in one room…  Updating the Unit Management Plan for the corridor will require input from all sides and will allow an unbiased review of the issues and provide a backbone for the village to explore the possibilities for economic development and positive coordinated uses of the corridor..
