The Campaign for Town of Harrietstown Supervisor is a little quieter today following an announcement from his campaign that Saranac Lake Village Trustee Tom Catillaz is Suspending his “Active Campaign”
In a statement emailed to WNBZ, The Catilliaz campaign noted a serious family medical situation out-of-state as the reason for the suspension of the active campaign. The Campaign according to our email is an indefinite suspension and the Candidate has also cancelled his involvement in the debate originally schedule for October 16th.
The statement is unclear as to whether Mr Catillaz is suspending his campaign due to the out of state situation, or that he doesn’t feel he would be able to continue as Supervisor should he be elected, but they do plan to keep his name on the ballot for the election. Which means perhaps, that unless there is some clarification from the Catillaz Camp, if he were to receive enough votes, although not actively campaigning, he could still be elected Harrietstown Supervisor.. In fact, Local Democratic Chair Chad McCarty says “Tom remains confident that he is the right choice for Harrietstown Supervisor.” But he does continue by saying.. “The Candidate’s priority must now be his family.”
The announcement comes on the heels of the first budget workshop where Budget Officer Mike Kilroy reports that the Towns Budget in Round One already comes in below the State’s 2 percent Tax Cap Requirements – Harrietstown Deputy Supervisor Barry DeFuria says there should be more cuts to come in the proposed budget during the next week of work sessions and meetings with each department head.
