The Town of Harrietstown steps into Round One of their Budget Work-Sessions Monday night with a presentation from Budget Officer Mike Kilroy… Tax Rates are divided by “Division” and only certain residents are required to pay portions of the assessment – Village Residents, for example, will only pay the assessment on the General Fund and the Airport Fund.
Outside the village, The tax rate adds three other funds including General Outside, Highway Outside, and Fire Protection. There are also four separate water districts which only apply to those who live within those districts.. and as for the Tax Cap limits in Round 1 of the process..
An increased Levy must not exceed $39,500 in order to remain under the Tax Cap. The Total Real Property Tax Levy for the Fiscal Year Ending 12/31/2012 in the Town of Harrietstown is $1,969,010 and Round One of the budget for 2013 starts with a proposal to budget a maximum of $2,008,510. Board members all agreed the Round one budget numbers will go down from their starting points. Round one’s proposed budget numbers start at $1,980,813 for 2013. The 2013 budget numbers as explained by Budget Officer Mike Kilroy will not exceed the 2% tax cap in 2013.
