AMC Hosts Blood Drive Wednesday

 

Adirondack Medical Center is hosting a blood drive tomorrow in the Redfield Board Room at AMC in Saranac Lake from noon until 5 p.m. Nora Busky is a phlebotomist with the North Country Regional Blood Bank\

AMC relies on blood collected locally to fill its medical needs including surgeries, infusions and attending to injuries. The hospital works collaboratively with the regional blood bank to assure the needs of the community are met.. and in fact, The need for blood is year round because it simply can’t be manufactured..  It comes from generous donors and the according to Busky, the process can be a social experience..

Adirondack Medical Center is asking its employees and members of the community to help meet the challenge of keeping a healthy blood supply and to give blood tomorrow any time between noon and 5 p.m. upstairs in the Redfield Board Room at AMC in Saranac Lake.

Blood drives are essential to maintaining levels for emergencies and planned surgeries and procedures. It takes approximately 10-15 minutes to donate and the donor staff has a combined total of over 20 years experience, and especially welcomes new donors.  Statistics show that of all the people eligible to donate, less than 10 percent actually do. If you’re eligible, Nov. 7 is the day to give.
