Congressman Bill Owens issued the following statement for Veterans Day.
“From the greatest generation to the men and women who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, we have a lot of heroes to thank today,” said Congressman Owens. “We can best honor America’s veterans by ensuring they receive the benefits they have earned, whether that’s helping older veterans retire with dignity or connecting younger veterans with good paying jobs.”
“America owes its freedom, its prosperity and its way of life to the selfless sacrifice of its veterans and service members. I am grateful for all they have done to protect and build a stronger America.”
Congressman Owens is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He will celebrate the holiday at the American Legion in Plattsburgh on Sunday, and at a ceremony honoring veterans in Saranac Lake on Monday.
