The Village of Saranac Lake secures easements from Mt. Pisgah to Old Lake Colby Road. easments, representing phase one of a plan to introduce a connector for use by cross-country skiers, hikers and mountain bikers between Mt Pisgah and Dewey Mountain. Saranac Lake Mayor Clyde Rabideau says The first easement was granted by James Hoyt and the second easement, representing the balance of the distance between Mt Pisgah and Old Lake Colby Road granted by Rabideau Corp, which is owned by the Mayor.
In the future the community development office hopes to make a link between the two ski areas. The Mayor says The next phase would be getting to the rail road track which is part of the jack Rabbit Trail.” Village Parks Director, Charlie Martin, plans to install trail markers sometime next week. The easements granted by Hoyt and Rabideau are “at will” and can be revoked by the landowners at any time and specifically restrict the use of any motorized vehicles. No snowmobiles, or all-terrain vehicles will be allowed on the trails.
