K&J – Talking Turkeys on Election Day

If there’s one thing that voters seem to agree on during Election Day, it’s the Turkey Supper at the Methodist Church.. Interestingly, no one can remember when this particular tradition began….  Karen Daily is a parishioner at the Methodist Church and she’s been a Volunteer for 30 years.. They’ve put her in charge of serving the Take Out orders.. and she says they started getting ready for Tuesday’s event almost a month ago..

K&J – 110712 – Church Supper

During the K&J show, we made our way to the dessert table just to the right of the stage in the parish hall of the Methodist Church– there’s actually a good view of the entire room from the stairs where the brownies are being served. In addition to serving take out meals, the buffet line for the eat in patrons includes Pastor Michael Richards, he’s serving the turkey.

The Methodist Church offers a Praise Service on Sundays at 8:30am, Fellowship at 9:30 and a Traditional Worship Service on Sundays 10AM along with a youth Sunday School. The Church Also offers a Free Community Supper every Wednesday at 5PM. With live music and free food. Fellowship.. All are welcome.. The Turkey Dinner on Election Night, a long standing tradition in Saranac Lake, with more than 50 volunteers and over 600 dinners served…

But no one would answer the most important question.. Who bought more dinners? Republicans or Democrats? Well at least everyone agrees, It’s probably a good thing the election is over so we don’t have to deal with all of those political ads in the media any more..
