Saranac Lake’s Mayor Clyde Rabideau pays tribute to Elena Beideck for her participation in the New York State Athletic Association Class C Championships four years in a row. Biedeck is only one of three girls in Section Seven who has competed in the State Meet over the last four years. She’s is also a four time CVAC all star. She’s also a Nordick Skier and in Girls Lacrosse. Elena is also winner of the Section 7 Sportsmanship Award in the State Championship. Mayor Rabideau asked Biedeck if she had applied to any colleges yet and she said she hadn’t decided yet, but she’s applied to the University of Chicago so far.
Saranac Lake’s Red Storm Football team completed an undefeated regular season in league play this fall and went on to win a third-straight Section VII-X Class C title. Mayor Clyde Rabideau complimenting the kids and the coaches for their efforts.. Coach Bennett at Monday’s Village Board Meeting says this community is a big supporter of the football team.
The Mayor Speaks with each of the Seniors in attendance – Michael Burpoe is the Defensive CVAC Player of the Year and he’s actually considering playing Lacrosse in college. Craig Leahey is in attendance at the meeting and he’s planning to attend the University of New Hampshire in the Fall..
The Mayor welcomed Juniors James Murnane, Derrick Thurber, Austin Eckert, Dustin Fisher and congratulated the team for recently placing 15 of its members on the First Team of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference All Stars.
Also in attendance – Senior Kevin Morgan who said he knows he’s going to play football somewhere and Quarterback Matt Phelan with a record season in his senior year and named Offensive Player of the year is heading to St Lawrence University and plans to carry on the tradition.
