Franklin County Sheriff Kevin Mulverhill is holding a donation drive to collect needed items for the victims Hurricane Sandy in New York City, and Long Island.
This drive, sponsored by the New York State Sheriff’s Association, is part of a statewide effort in cooperation with the Salvation Army. Sheriffs’ offices around the state are collecting donations of essential items during Thanksgiving week.
Sheriff Mulverhill says “This week, as we celebrate Thanksgiving and give thanks for all of our blessings, it is a great time for us to reach out to the people of our state who have been hit so hard by the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, and share our blessings with them,”
Donations will be accepted at the Franklin County Jail between the hours of 8:00AM and 6:00PM starting tomorrow and ending on the 27th. Their list includes;
New, Inexpensive Towels
New, Inexpensive Blankets
Flashlights
Batteries
Toiletries
Non-Perishable Foods
Cleaning Supplies
Work Gloves
Garbage bags
Baby wipes/diapers
Cases of water
For health reasons, donated items such as towels and blankets should be new. For logistical reasons, donations of used items, such as clothing and furniture, are not being collected at this time.
