Farmers from across this great state will gather for New York Farm Bureau’s State Annual Meeting which begins tomorrow in Albany. The State’s Annual Meeting will set New York Farm Bureau policy and it’s agenda for the coming year, which many agree comes with many uncertainties.
Perhaps the most pressing issue involves the ongoing struggle inWashingtonto pass the 2012 Farm Bill and While the full Senate and the House Agriculture Committee did their part with the support of theNew YorkCongressional delegation including congressman Bill Owens, the critical piece of legislation has been held up in the full House.
The Farm Bureau says Already, farmers are feeling the consequences from the stalled Farm Bill and There are a number of other important issues to farming that must be addressed including immigration reform, an unreasonable expansion of the Clean Water Act, and additional labor concerns.
