Advanced Directives Seminar
Adirondack Medical Center’s Director of Pastoral Care, Steve Kovacevich, will present a Seminar on Advanced Directives at Saranac Village at Will Rogers, on Wednesday, December 5th, from 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., as part of Saranac Village at Will Rogers’ Road to Retirement Series. The Road to Retirement Series, which began in September, features programs related to the challenges of retiring, solutions for organizing, and information on Veterans’ affairs, and will run through December and then begin again in February.
Advanced health care planning, or Advanced Directives as it is more commonly known, can consist of both oral and written orders intended to address a person’s health care wishes if he or she is unable to speak for themself. Anyone who is 18 years of age or older, or has a chronic disease, should be aware of the need for Advanced Directives. Likewise, it is important to take into consideration the need to plan ahead and inform those closest to you about your wishes for end-of-life decisions before the time comes. There are different forms of Advanced Directives, as well as many situations presenting their own set of individual questions.
This program is free for those 55 and older, open to the public and a special discount will be offered to new residents who attend the program and move in within 30 days of this program. Refreshments will be served. For information, please contact Director of Admissions, Jenn Grisi at (518) 891-7117.
