Who will become Saranac Lake “6er” Number One?

We’ll find out Saturday, May 25th during a special event at the Berkley Green in Saranac Lake.. HIkers will begin Saturday at 8am, registration begins at 7am. Later in the day Saranac Lake’s Mayor Clyde Rabideau and others will await the arrival of the first to hike all six peaks in order to become a Saranac Lake 6er.

Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver Announces the Assembly’s intention to pass the Farm workers Fair Labor Practices Act. The Measure would grant collective bargaining rights, workers’ compensation, disability and unemployment benefits plus other worker rights and protections to all farm workers.
Saranac Lake Winter Carnival – Ice Palace Construction Underway
The Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Ice Palace is starting to take shape, mostly thanks to the help of volunteers moving more than 450 Ice Blocks a day out of Pontiac Bay… The Ice has been cut into blocks using a special saw and finished off by hand.. Liz is standing on the ice just under the excavator they’re using as an Ice Picker to grab the ice floating in the bay and pull it around to the bucket loaders which are transporting them to the palace.. Her job is to move the blocks into that final position. But she has been in responsible for other jobs over the years..

Work will continue on the Palace as much as possible and are always looking for volunteers. The best way to get involved is to keep an eye out for activity, dress appropriately and stop by the site, there’s plenty of work to go around… The Winter Carnival Committee has finalized the schedule – it’s available on their website at Saranac Lake Winter Carnival dot com and we’ve posted a condensed version on the WNBZ.com community calendar…
