New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is Leading One-Third of the Senate in Calling to Protect Critical Food Assistance for Community’s Most Vulnerable. Gillibrand says the Senate’s version of the Farm Bill will drop $4.1 Billion dollars in Food Stamps for Veterans, and Seniors.
The Senator in an email to WNBZ says she’s deeply disappointed with the bill’s drastic cuts… “Just as important as the health of our agriculture industry, she says is the health and nutrition of our children and families.”
She continues by saying Families who are living in poverty – hungry children, seniors, troops and veterans who are just trying to figure out how to keep the lights on and put food on the table were not the ones who spent this nation into debt and the Senate should not be trying to balance the budget on their backs. They deserve better from this Congress than they’re getting she says.
