Lake Placid Film Forum Gets Underway

Day one of the Lake Placid Film Forum and the schedule includes two screenings – one at 6:30 and one at 9pm – All of the screenings will take place at the LPCA – and tomorrow’s screenings begin at noon and conclude with the Sleepless in Lake Placid event which is now in it’s seventh year.. The Sleepless in Lake Placid portion of the Film Forum begins Friday at 8:45… It’s an event that brings together film students who participate in the experience of creating a short film within the constraints of a 24-hour time deadline.

For developing filmmakers, the competition is a practical exercise in the pleasures and difficulties of filmmaking, highlighting the relative roles of creativity, craft, spontaneity, time, resource management, and teamwork in the process of making a film. The competition has become the centerpiece of the Lake Placid Film Forum. Four prizes are awarded: the Robin Pell Emerging Filmmaker Award (which includes a cash prize), the Audience Choice Award, Best Actor and Best Actress.
