Good Marks for Lake Placid School Busses

A new transportation study gives The Lake Placid Central School District good grades for student transportation.. Christopher Andrews at Transportation Services, says 337 students who ride the bus in the Lake Placid School District are well served and the system is efficient and effective.

The study showed that the 8 routes in Lake Placid yields an annual cost per bus of $99,378, or $552 per day.. A recent policy brief says the average cost of transporting a student approaches $1,141.. In Lake Placid, the report says that number increases to above $3,000 per student but given the size and location of the district, combined with the fact that in a small district some employees fill multiple position, the difference should be expected..  AUDIO – 071713 – Lake Placid School Board Transportation Efficiency Study
