AUDIO – 072913 – AMC Lake Placid ER going Part Time

The Adirondack Health Board of Directors are pursuing an option to transition the AMC Lake Placid Emergency Room to a facility that would be part time..  AMC Communications Director Joe Riccio says The Option is being pursued in conjunction with the state Department of Health to ensure all quality, patient safety and regulatory requirements are held to the high standard set by Adirondack Health and its staff.  Ricco continued in his statement by saying “An ad hoc transition team of community members is being formed to provide advice and assistance during the transition process….   We spoke with Lake Placid Mayor Craig Randall and North Elba Supervisor Robi Politi over the weekend and asked them for their perspective. The Board has not spelled out a time-table for initiating the move to a part time Emergency Room in Lake Placid but they do say the regulations would allow them to remain open as an Emergency Department with a minimum of 12 hours per day.
