Chief Says “Table the Frequency Sharing”

AUDIO – 081313 – Franklin County Requests Sharing Frequencies with SL Fire

The Village of Saranac Lake is headed to a work session to mill over a request by Franklin County Emergency Services to share a radio frequency with the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department..  Brendan Keough is Saranac Lake’s Fire Chief … he asked the board to table the motion to allow for further discussion..  Rick Yorkey spoke to the board saying his email was opposed to the concept of sharing a radio frequency with Paul Smith’s Gabriels. The board Tabled the decision until the next board meeting. They plan to hold a special work-session at 4:30 just before the regular meeting on August 26th to discuss the issue further. Franklin County is asking to share the frequency while they apply for their own frequency. Currently, the county does not have the necessary infrastructure to provide paging services to volunteers and is hoping to share Saranac Lake’s until they can build their own.
