Saranac Lake Mayor Clyde Rabideau presents Plein Air Organizer Sandy Hildreth with a plaque honoring Saranac Lake Art Works for their work on the Plein Air Festival. The Festival brought over 70 artists to the community, many of whom say they’ll be back because Saranac Lake provides a multitude of locations to paint and a welcoming community to work in. In Tuesday’s Edition of the Morning News we hear the Mayor’s Proclamation and Hildreth explains some of the final numbers from the event.. She says there were $16,800 of art sales in one weekend which translates to $1,300 in Franklin County Sales Tax. 75 Artists were registered, from as far away as Colorado and 12 local artists.. They auctioned 55 of the smaller 5×7 “Paint The Town” paintings and the funds this year were donated to the Saranac Lake Art Works.. 42 paintings were sold out of about 61 artists displaying paintings (200 paintings on display) Hildreth says about half of the artists sold a painting, and she says all of the artists in the community spent approximately $22,000 coming to the event.
WNBZ spent some time with artists at the Show and Sale at the Harrietstown Hall and presented those conversations in a Plein Air K&J show..
