Boston EMS Deputy Supt. Mike Boss reported that a group of adults were on the porch at 1538 Tremont Street around 11 p.m. when it caved in onto the second floor.
Five other people were treated at the scene. None of the injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Gage Delprete lives in the apartment and was on the deck when it collapsed. He says he had invited some friends over following an art opening.
“All of us were in mid-conversation and then suddenly the porch gave way,” he said. “We’re very fortunate that no one was seriously injured. But it was a surreal experience.”
Delprete says because he lives with three other roommates, it’s not unusual for eight or ten people to be out on the deck at one time.
Inspectors have been called in to investigate the cause and examine whether there may have been any code violations.
