Corey’s Road Closing Monday for Repair

In The Parking Lot behind the offices at The Harrietstown Garage there’s a very big aluminum “Thing” which looks like a giant erector set actually – corrugated sections of galvanized aluminum are all bolted together to make a 5 foot high arch and sitting flat on the pavement is a flattened length of this corrugated aluminium – which will be set carefully on a new foundation on the Corey’s Pond Road just off of Route 3 in between Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake… It’s a different kind of culvert, much larger than one might expect actually and that’s apparently because trout spawn in that tributary and need to be able to travel back and forth from one side of this road to another.. We’re told they won’t swim through smaller pipes..  needless to say, there’s a plan in place to install this new culvert and the work begins on Monday..  (September 9th, 2013)
