High Grades for Lake Placid School’s Maintenance Staff

Lake Placid’s School Board President Mary Deitrich says there’s a noticeable difference this year for students and for administration.. She’s reiterating a report from Lake Placid’s Superintendent Roger Catania at Tuesday’s School Board Meeting, who made a point of highlighting the valuable work done over the summer to the buildings and grounds in the district.

Catania reports that the district saved a substantial sum of money thanks to the help of the in house staff and interestingly, those savings will be reported, along with a list of all of the items items where money was saved over budgeted amounts.. If you put all of the savings together, the number this year approaches $350,000 saved over budgeted amounts.. $249,000 was placed into a retirement payout reserve account and the balance of the savings returned to the school’s general fund… Catania says the work not only saved money but wanted to be sure that credit went to the quality of the work.
