Patriots Blog: The Ever-Growing List Of Patriots Not On The Field

BOSTON (CBS) – The list of Patriots who are not on the field (or limited on it) due to injury or off-field issues is starting to get pretty big. Here’s something to keep you updated:

Aaron Hernandez: We know, no reason to talk about it.

Rob Gronkowski: Gronk missed all of the preseason and the first two games while recovering from back and forearm surgery. There is a 50/50 chance that he will play this weekend against the Buccaneers — according to a report. I say if he’s healthy, get him out there.

Shane Vereen: The young man had a very good preseason and carried the Pats in the first game against Buffalo when Stevan Ridley was benched. Turns out during that game, he broke a bone in his wrist on his first play from scrimmage. Vereen had surgery, was placed on the IR and could be out until week 11.

Matthew Slater: In the second game of the season against the Jets, the Pats captain and ace special teamer broke a bone in his hand. Word is he is out 4 to 6 weeks. The Pats will miss his leadership.

Danny Amendola: Danny had a strained groin through the preseason and during the first game he hurt himself again. He finished the game against the Bills with valiant effort and helped lead the Patriots to victory. He missed the second game and now there are reports that he has torn adductor muscles in his hip and there are conflicting reports that he has a sports hernia. Even though he was on the field at practice on Monday, a timetable for his return is unknown.
