NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A Queens man said this weekend that he will once again attempt to row across the Atlantic Ocean, in an effort to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS.
As WCBS 880′s Jim Smith reported Sunday, Victor Mooney of Flushing hopes the fourth time is the charm for his quest to row across the ocean on a 5,000-mile journey.

Mooney has been training with four- to six-hour trips off the coast of Long Island, hoping to be fully prepared for more than 120 days of total isolation out at sea.
“It’s still, there’s small things that you just have to hope and pray that everything goes right,” Mooney said.
Mooney’s last attempt two years ago nearly killed him. He was left having to float in a life raft for 14 days, just 250 miles into the journey.
But he is determined to try again and raise awareness about HIV. His brother died of AIDS in 1983.
