School Board is Reaching Out to Stakeholders

The Saranac Lake Central School Board has decided to create a mechanism for various stakeholders to get together to re-envision education..  and has begun to reach out to teachers, parents and other stakeholders.. The objective – to discuss pertinent topics that involve students and staff.. It’s going to be called the Educational Vision Committee….  School Board President Deb Lennon says the board is very goal oriented and very task oriented..

The Board’s goals for the 2013 2014 school year also include the examination of their relationships with other educational institutions, including BOCES, NCCC, and Paul Smith’s College.

Also on the Agenda, starting the budget process early and continuing to include community in the discussion. The Board’s Vice President Clyde Baker said September 19th was the first meeting, right on schedule.

The board spent a day in early August at a retreat where these goals along with other topics, one of which being Student Safety and security were mapped out – a key component of the new policy includes the lock down at the school where only one or two entrance options will be available to administrators, staff and students…
