  • 1010 WINS’ Al Jones reports

Subryan Banggaroo, 60, was coming home from work when police said a man followed him into the building, placed him in a chokehold and then stabbed him repeatedly as a female accomplice acted as a lookout.

The entire incident was captured on surveillance video.

“I had no idea someone was behind me, it happened so fast,” he told CBS 2′s Weijia Jiang. “He locked me up, I couldn’t breathe, I just dropped.”

Banggaroo said he was stabbed in the back, chest and hip.

“I thought I was going to die,” he said. “I said ‘it’s over for me, it’s over, that’s it.”

The male suspect then stole Banggaroo’s cell phone and the pair took off, police said.

Banggaroo was taken to the hospital and is recovering. He said from now on, he’ll be more aware of his surroundings.

“I’m very, very angry,” he told 1010 WINS’ Al Jones. “There’s no reason for this. If somebody hurts you like that, an innocent man like me, it’s not right.”

Banggaroo is pleading for tips to help catch the couple. “If you see something, say something, so it won’t happen to anyone else.”
