Woman Arrested After Mini-Bus, SUV Collide On Long Island

ISLIP TERRACE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) – A mini-bus carrying two handicapped children has collided with an SUV on Long Island.

The accident happened in Central Islip shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday.

A police spokeswoman said it appears the SUV caught on fire and some of the flames damaged the bus.

The driver of the SUV has been arrested on charges she was under the influence of drugs. The woman was not immediately identified. Police did not specify what drugs may have been involved.

The two children on the bus, as well as two aides and the bus driver, did not appear to be injured. They were taken to a hospital as a precaution.

The accident is still under investigation.
