If you have an alarm system with an automatic dialer to your alarm company, Village Manager John Sweeney says it’s important to communicate with your alarm company and change the emergency number they have on file to the New Franklin County Emergency services number… That new number is 483-1211..
On November 1st the system will change in Saranac Lake’s Fire and Rescue district.. Re-Directing all emergency calls to 911… Chief Bruce Nason says it will be important to differentiate between emergency calls and administrative calls not only for the police department but also for fire and rescue.. and he says alarm companies should be able to provide some basic information to the dispatcher.. Including street address, and for larger facilities it’s important to also identify the location of the emergency, either with numbered doors, or by identifying the entrance in another manner such as North, South, East or West. The Franklin County Emergency Services response number for agencies and alarm companies outside of the region is currently active (518) 483-1211. Sweeney says the village expects to “Flip the Switch” on November 1st, at which point callers to the local police station, fire and rescue numbers will receive a message referring anyone with an emergency to call 911 while forwarding administrative questions to voice mail.
