AMC and Lake Placid Sports Medicine Join Olympic Medical Network

Partnership underscores local commitment to serving elite athletes

Adirondack Health and Lake Placid Sports Medicine have joined the U.S. Olympic Committee’s National Medical Network, an affiliation of national and regional medical centers that provide care to elite U.S. athletes.  Through the network athletes receive orthopedic care, primary medical and dental care, neurosurgery and more.  Adirondack Health is the only full service health system in the Adirondack Park, and Lake Placid Sports Medicine provides a full range of orthopedic surgical services.

“We are extremely pleased to have Adirondack Health and Lake Placid Sports Medicine join the National Medical Network,” said Alan Ashley, USOC chief of sport performance. “The purpose of this medical network is to provide convenient and quality services for world-class athletes. The variety and value of services that this collaborative project will provide is a true game changer for Team USA.”

“We’re proud that the caliber of our care has been recognized by the USOC,” said Chandler M. Ralph, Adirondack Health’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “Meeting the needs of U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes who live, train and compete in our area is an integral part of what Adirondack Health does.  We’re equally committed to our local athletes, whose passions range from skiing to school athletics and everything in between.”

“Our organization will continue to provide Team USA with the highest level of orthopedic care to allow these elite athletes to train and compete at the highest level possible,” said Dr. Eugene Byrne, who along with Dr. William Smith and Dr. Daniel Bullock, are orthopedic surgeons with Lake Placid Sports Medicine.

This new partnership will support U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes’ performance in the Lake Placid area through comprehensive preparation, maintenance and enhancement of their health while providing new medical resources.
