The Saranac Lake School Board will be saying goodbye to Former Assistant Principle Paul Leahy who has recently taken the reigns on Special Education in the District… Leahy Formally Announced his resignation in a letter to Superintendent Diane Fox prior to Wednesday’s Meeting of the School Board… During the Meeting, Fox said Leahy will be missed.. Fox said Leahy gave her his letter of resignation on Tuesday which she reluctantly accepted, and she continued by complimenting him on his work for the district. Leahy will remain on the job through January, 2014.
Paul was born and raised in Saranac Lake. He is a 1976 graduate of Saranac Lake High School and is a 1981 graduate of Norwich University where he received a B.S. in Physical Education. Paul received his Master’s Degree in Education/Administration from St. Lawrence University in 1983. In November 2005, Paul was inducted in Norwich University’s Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the 1979-1980 football team. He has been employed by the Saranac Lake Central School District as an administrator for the past seventeen years. Paul is most recently the Archbishop of the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival and is one of the founders and President of the Saranac Lake Area Youth Program established in April 2000. Paul was a Winter Carnival Page in 1967 and a member of the 1975 high school court. His letter of resignation from the district is effective January, 2014.
