Six New “6er” Wines at Saranac Lake Discount Liquors

There’s a new bottle of Wine at Saranac Lake Discount Liquor, that in itself is nothing new for Sue Ward, but this particular bottle has a new label and a new name, which is already drawing the attention of many in the region because of it’s association with the SaranacLake 6er program… Saranac Lake Mayor Clyde Rabideau says this is the first of several wines to be re-named in honor of the program Village Trustee Tom Catillaz says there’s been some careful attention paid to the new 6er branding. “Sue has taken all of the pictures herself of the mountains and carefully picked each one” Mayor Rabideau says The initial Chardonnay is called “Mt Baker” Chardonnay and there will be two additional whites and the other three will be reds. Each of the wines will be named after one of the Saranac Lake 6er mountains. “So Far the response has been great” Rabideau said.

While the terms of the licensing agreement weren’t discussed at the meeting, Village Clerk Kareen Tyler tells us the new labeling includes an arrangement for a share of the money raised on those bottles to be given to the village for continued promotion of the Saranac Lake 6er program…

6er Candy - MAINTyler has also been instrumental in the creation of a special 6er water bottle which will be handed out at the kick off of the Winter 6er program… The bottle of water has a new label with the description of each peak and the Winter 6er Logo. Mayor Rabideau says these bottles will be handed out to participants on December 21st at the inauguration of the Saranac Lake “Winter 6er” program and he says he looks forward to finding out who the first Winter 6er is going to be. The 5 additional wines are awaiting label approval prior to being sold at Saranac Lake Discount Liquors on Main Street in Saranac Lake. Label approval is required by the state liquor board for all alcohol labels before they can be placed in circulation.
