A Collaborative Planning Focus for Lake Placid Schools

There’s a collaboration among teachers and administrators in the Lake Placid School District.. Superintendent Roger Catania says they specifically have three school improvement teams whose efforts reflect the goals of the School Board, especially relating to the strategic planning initiative…  In August the Lake Placid School Board approved a professional development plan which included the creation of a professional development team.. Members of the professional development team include third grade teacher Laura Clark, Elementary Foreign Language Teacher Caroline Hambly, Middle School English Teacher John Milane, High School Math Teacher Robin Poulson, High School English Teacher Amy Spicer, All three Principles, Catania and School Board President Mary Deitrich..

The School Board at Tuesday Night’s Meeting spent more than two hours in executive session, we’re told it’s the beginning of their work to negotiate the two union contracts which will become part of the 2014 Lake PlacidSchool Budget.. The Board has also approved a timeline for budget development which will include several work-sessions, along with outreach and prioritizing.. According to Board President Mary Deitrich, The Budget planning so far is actually running ahead of schedule..
