Every year just before Thanksgiving, The Lake Placid Lions Club gathers in the media center at the Olympic Ski Jumps in Lake Placid for the annual Lake Placid Lion’s Club Radio Auction on ROCK105. Before the station was purchased by Mountain Communications, the Lions aired their auction on AM 920 WIRD but it was changed in 2002 to ROCK105 and since then, the auction incorporated a Public Service Partnership with Time Warner Cable to air the auction on Channel 2 (now digital 98-3 for extended basic customers without a converter box) The Auction is MC’d by members of the Lions Club and every 15 minutes, new auction items are placed on the board. Bidders also have the opportunity to bid on Full Day and Half Day items. ROCK105 donates the air time for the full day and the event will typically raise approximately $13,000.00 which all goes towards the clubs efforts to support the community. We’re speaking on the K&J show today with Lion President Jeff Dipaulo about the Lions Club nationwide, and the Lake Placid Lions and their efforts to support local projects.
This year’s event is Saturday, November 14th from 9am until 5pm and will air as usual on ROCK105..
