Lake Placid Food Pantry Today – Handing out 300 Thanksgiving Dinners

More than 300 complete Thanksgiving dinners are headed to needy families today thanks to the efforts of all of the volunteers at the Lake Placid Ecumenical Food Shelf.. Father John Yankovick is Pastor of St Agnes Church.. “There no question that the needs are certainly great, both for single people, young families, the elderly and the variety of foods has to be extensive” he said.

Linda Young is the coordinator of the food pantry and along with about 25 volunteers, they commit their time on a weekly basis and normally every Friday they’re passing out the food to the needy.. But today is a special day because Outside St Agnes today there’ll be a truck with frozen turkeys..  Father Yankovick says they’re planning for provide 300 families with a thanksgiving dinner…

On Sunday, Volunteers spent much of the afternoon starting the process of putting canned goods into each Thanksgiving Basket.. Then Early this morning, more volunteers will begin to complete the process… putting in all of the fresh items..

Here in Lake Placid, The Foot Pantry at St Agnes Church will open at 10:30am today and Father Yankovick says they’ll be distributing Thanksgiving Dinners right into the afternoon until about 8:30pm…
