Town of Harrietstown Rescinds Healthcare Plan for Board Members

The Town of Harrietstown has a new policy on health insurance that requires current and future town board members, including the town’s supervisor, whether elected or appointed to pay the full cost of their health insurance premiums…  The new policy does not apply to the town clerk the town justice or the highway superintendent…Harrietstown Councilwoman Nicole Meyette says the policy came about as a result of their review of the budget..In addition the town also officially rescinded their informal policy of providing an annual stipend of $1,200 to officials and non union employees who choose not to enroll in the Town’s health insurance coverage for that particular year. One exception to the provision is for members of the board who have been receiving health insurance from the Town for more than 10 years… Councilman Keough is the only board member who qualifies for that exception..  The Board will be consulting with it’s human resources consultant to identify how to incorporate this new policy into the employee handbook for the town..
