The Lake Placid Police Department sponsors an annual Halloween dance at the Olympic Center on Halloween.. The dance was held at the Lake Placid Convention Center from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Grades 6 through 12 were invited. Earlier in the day, the Elementary Halloween Trick or Treat set records with kids and parents looking to have an enjoyable Halloween experience but to escape from the rain for a few hours. “The Lake Placid Police Department is dedicated, enthusiastic, well-trained, and well-equipped group of men and women who are committed to providing the best law enforcement services possible – making this community a great place to live.” Writes Bill Monroe, Lake Placid Chief of Police, “A good relationship with the community is imperative in public safety. It is the most effective way to stop crime now and prevent it in the future.” The Dance drew approximately 300 students from the Middle and High School.
