Douglas asks Essex County Board for another term as Chairman

Jay Town Supervisor Randy Douglas is again vying for the chairmanship of the Essex County Board of Supervisors….  In a letter to the public and his colleagues, Douglas says he and Vice Chairman Bill Ferebee have worked hard to keep EssexCounty at the front of the line for State and Federal funding grant opportunities. With the Help of department heads, Douglas says they’ve been able to secure additional funding for infrastructure improvements and consolidation projects. Douglas continues in his letter by saying the county has also been assisting Town supervisors in securing grant funds for water and sewer projects, land classifications, and assisting with FEMA recovery funds.

Douglas sights their most recent success in working with Governor Cuomo, Supervisor Preston, Assemblyman Stec, Senator Little, Orda, and the New York State Department of Transportation…  to secure funding for the Whiteface Veterans Memorial Highway’s much needed repairs.

Douglas continued by adding that allthough the Essex County Board may all disagree at times, he knows each and every one of the members honestly votes for what they feel is best. And he says “Both Bill and I have been honored to serve as your leaders these last few years.”

Douglas says he’s already reached out to all the new Elected Supervisors and is promising to help them in any way he can to make their transitions into Town/County Supervisors successful..   “If Bill and I are successful remaining as Chairman and Vice Chairman,” Douglas continues in his letter…  “We assure you we will continue to work as hard as possible to represent you all at the local, State, and Federal level .”

Here is Jay Supervisor Randy Douglas’ Message to the board;

Dear Colleagues , I am writing to ask you for your support for myself and Supervisor Ferebee to have the honor to continue to serve in 2014 as your Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Essex County Board of Supervisors. Together we have worked very hard on your behalf to help keep us at the front of the line for State and Federal funding grant opportunities. Together in working with the County Manager Dan Palmer, County Attorney Dan Manning, Deputy County Manager Mike Mascarenas, and all Department heads we have been very successful in securing funding for many projects in Essex County such as infrastructure improvements and consolidation projects. We have also been assisting many of you in your Towns securing grant funds for water and sewer projects,land classifications ,or assisting you with FEMA recovery funds.  Most recently in working with Governor Cuomo, Supervisor Preston, Assemblyman Stec, Senator Little, Orda,and  the NYS Dot we were able to secure funding for the Whiteface Veterans Memorial Highway much needed repairs. I always say to Mike Mascarenas you make the snowballs and apply and Bill and I will throw them and lobby as hard as possible to receive the funding. Together we have made great strides in working together in a bipartisan way for the betterment of Essex Counties future. All though we may all disagree at times I know each and every one of you honestly vote for what you feel is best in your hearts. Both Bill and I have been honored to serve as your leaders these last few years. I have already reached out to all the new Elected Supervisors and promise to help them in any way I can to make their transitions into Town/County Supervisors successful . If Bill and I are successful to remain as your Chairman and Vice Chairman we assure you we will continue to work as hard as possible to represent you all at the local, State, and Federal level .  We have made many connections with all County, State, and Federal Elected officials to keep Essex Counties needs on their minds through these last 4 years. I have received approval from my family my wife Peggy , Daughter Savannah, and son Shane, to continue if you so choose. I am very thankful for their love and support. I am also very thankful to have the support of the Jay Elected and appointed Public Officials as well as the Board of Supervisors staff who on a day in and out go above and beyond to help make my job as Chairman much easier. Honestly the duties of Chairman has changed with these tough fiscal times and it is very time consuming but I assure you we are up to the challenges ahead. In closing I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families, and I wish you all a Happy Holiday Season ahead. Any consideration for your support would be greatly appreciated.
