Giving Tuesday / Adirondack Gives Turns 13 (days old)

Today marks the second annual “Giving Tuesday”, a day for companies, organizations, and people to give back through clothing and food drives, on-line contributions, volunteer work, and of course, money. It’s an effort that started with the U-N and the 92nd Street Y in New York and now includes more than 10-thousand groups, in all 50 States, and 40 countries. Caleb Tiller is with the United Nations Foundation.

One outlet for Giving in the North Country is a new 13 day old website called Adirondack Gives dot ORG.. It’s the brainchild of the Adirondack Foundation to help smaller non profit organizations reach out to donors for help with specific projects or fundraising campaigns..   Cali Brooks is Adirondack Foundation’s Executive Director…. She says “Adirondack Gives dot ORG is similar to other crowd based fundraising platforms”

Chris Morris is Communications Director for the Adirondack Foundation.. He says one important concept to remember is that Adirondack Gives dot org is a free service for not for profit organizations provided by the Adirondack Foundation and in fact part of the Foundation’s Mission..

Information on how to participate or propose a fundraising campaign is available at the website:
