Nameplates are Changing in Plattsburgh Council Chambers

02 - InlineMayor Don Kasprzack says goodbye to his duties in the City of Plattsburgh and come January 2nd, the Council Chambers will have a brand new set of nameplates.. Not only for Mayor Elect Jim Calnon, but also for the seats around the table…  In a statement at the close of the meeting, Kasprzack commented on the relationship with the community “It’s been an honor and a priviledge to be Mayor of Plattsbrugh,” The Mayor Said, “It’s been a learning experience. The best part of the job around the table is that we meet so many fine people during our tenure.” Mayor Kasprzack continued by saying that government is not always easy and he wished the new council the best of luck “Because the challenges and difficult decisions are coming, and it has nothing to do with this council, you can look at Albany, or Washington but my advise is this,” The Mayor Said, “I wish the council and the new mayor the best of luck, and I look forward to reading the positive things and I will chuckle at some of the other things that the paper will write and you may not always be pleased with what is written.”

Mayor Elect Jim Calnon said he will miss the outgoing members and he counts them among his friends. He thanked them for their efforts. Councilman George Rabideau’s term expired and he told the board he believes his replacement should be able to cover things well. “It hasn’t always been fun but it has been interesting” Rabideau said, “We may not always agree but he hopes they’ll make decisions in the interest of the residents of the community.” The next meeting on January 2nd is the Organizational meeting where new members will be sworn in.
