Now that the Governor has presented his proposals to the legislature, he’s going to have some work ahead to get it all passed… We hear today from Assemblyman Dan Stec.. He tells us he’s concerned about the rationale behind Governor Cuomo’s Property Tax Freeze..
Assemblyman-elect Daniel Stec was elected to serve the constituents of the 114th Assembly District on November 6, 2012. His district includes all of Essex and Warren Counties, the Towns of Corinth, Day, Hadley and Edinburgh in Saratoga County as well as the Towns of Dresden, Fort Ann, Granville, Hampton, Hebron, Putnam and Whitehall in Washington County. In his Biography, Stec says he looks forward to helping solve the critical issues New York state faces – taxes, job growth and medical care. He will strive to spread a message of fiscal conservatism, beginning with unfunded mandate relief and lower property taxes, increased economic development efforts and the delivery of important health care services to his constituents.
Stec got his start in Queensbury Town government – first on the zoning board and then for two terms as a Town Councilman. For the past nine years, he has served as Queensbury Town Supervisor and for the last two as Chairman of the Warren County Board of Supervisors. As Queensbury Town Supervisor, Daniel Stec returned almost $10 million to local taxpayers in the form of rebates. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy nuclear power program, serving for eight years as a nuclear engineer onboard the USS Truxtun, and was stationed in the Persian Gulf during operation Desert Storm. While serving in the Navy he earned an MBA from the University of Rhode Island. Stec’s parents raised him in Queensbury. Stec’s father is a retired NYS Forest Ranger and Vietnam veteran, while his mother is a former secretary at Queensbury High School.
