Mentoring in Saranac Lake

There’s a Mentoring program in Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake which is designed to connect at risk students with kind and caring adult volunteers from the community in the local schools.. and right now, it has a new program director, Meghan Samolis is reaching out to these communities for additional participation..Meghan spoke the village board on Monday evening to address the need for volunteers to work with students in the school districts..

During her presentation, Meghan told the village board she’s been able to recruit an additional 5 mentors to assist with child development in the schools but their goal is to find one mentor for every child in need of the nurturing..

The Enhanced Mentor Program was created in 2001 as a supportive community service to provide youth with a caring adult in their lives who can support them with the goals of promoting academic success, healthy behaviors and positive self esteem..
