More Public Comment and Strategic Planning for the City of Plattsburgh

In Lake Placid, The Comprehensive Plan is in it’s final stages of approval after several years of gathering input and comment from the public.. And following a final joint session of the Village of Lake Placid and The Town of North Elba which will include a public hearing later this month, that document will most likely be incorporated as a shared planning document between the village and the town..

In Plattsburgh there may be a new effort getting underway to focus more specifically on a longer vision for the community.. Ward Five Councilwoman Becky Kasper is looking to spearhead the challenge of organizing a committee to place more emphasis on developing a strategic plan..Kasper spoke to the board on Thursday about the possibility of making better use of a charter that already exists in legislation that calls for a 5 year plan. “It may be a good way to have all of their departments and the community to weigh in on they hope to accomplish for the future and the overall fabric of Plattsburgh.” Kasper Said.

One of the items in the Council’s Organizational planning Thursday night was to re-vitalize the second public comment period during regular council meetings..  With next Thursday’s Meeting, the public will once again be able to comment at the beginning of the meeting just before the weekly agenda shifts into full gear and then again… just before the close of the meeting..
